Katy Perry, Tyler the Creator on new Mark Ryden project
The beloved album artist Mark Ryden recently came out of a long retirement from making LP covers to work on a special edition of Tyler the Creator's "Wolf."
Now he's gotten the L.A. rapper-producer and many other stars to return the favor for a new project.
As part of Ryden's new exhibit, "The Gay '90s," Tyler the Creator is releasing a collaborative LP, "The Gay Nineties Old Tyme Music: Daisy Bell." The LP consists entirely of covers of one track, "Daisy Bell (Bicycle Built for Two)." Ryden muse Katy Perry and Nick Cave are among the biggest names to take on the tune.
Danny Elfman, "Weird Al" Yankovic, Mark Mothersbaugh and Metallica's Kirk Hammett album contributed versions of the tune. The record is pressed in a limited edition of 999 copies on 180-gram vinyl.
The LPs will be on sale at Ryden's exhibition and on his own website for $99, with all proceeds going to the music education group Little Kids Rock.
If you think you've heard this song before, there is one particularly famous version, albeit by a malevolent robot.
